Aloe Vera

"Nature's calming, hydrating base."

What it is

About Aloe Vera

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice — derived from the inner leaf of the Aloe vera plant — has been used in skincare for centuries, and modern research has validated what traditional medicine long understood: it is one of the most effective natural soothing and hydrating agents available. At 5%, it forms a calming, hydrating base that makes the Daily Glow Serum suitable even for reactive and sensitive skin types.

Key Benefits

What it does for your skin

Soothes irritation and redness

Aloe vera contains acemannan, a polysaccharide with well-documented anti-inflammatory properties. It reduces the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, calming redness and irritation — particularly useful when the skin is adjusting to active ingredients like Vitamin C.

Delivers lightweight hydration

Aloe leaf juice is approximately 99% water, but its polysaccharide content creates a film on the skin surface that helps retain moisture without the heaviness of occlusive oils or butters — ideal for a fast-absorbing serum formula.

Supports skin barrier recovery

Clinical studies show that Aloe vera accelerates wound healing and supports the restoration of the skin barrier. It stimulates fibroblast activity and collagen synthesis, contributing to improved skin resilience over time.

Enhances ingredient penetration

Aloe vera has been shown to act as a penetration enhancer, improving the transdermal delivery of co-formulated actives. This means the Vitamin C, Niacinamide, and other actives in the Daily Glow Serum may be delivered more effectively to the target layers of the skin.

Antioxidant and antimicrobial properties

Aloe vera contains vitamins A, C, and E, as well as flavonoids and polyphenols that contribute additional antioxidant protection. Its natural antimicrobial properties also help maintain a healthy skin microbiome.

The Science

The science

The primary bioactive in Aloe vera is acemannan — a long-chain polysaccharide that modulates immune response, stimulates fibroblast proliferation, and forms a protective hydrating film on the skin surface. Research also identifies aloesin (a chromone compound) as a tyrosinase inhibitor, providing a mild complementary brightening effect that works synergistically with the Alpha-Arbutin and Vitamin C in the formula.

Aloe vera juice is pH-sensitive and can degrade if not properly preserved. Our formula uses a stabilised, inner-leaf extract processed at low temperatures to preserve the bioactive polysaccharide content, combined with a preservation system that maintains efficacy throughout the product's shelf life.

Our Concentration

5%

At 5%, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice provides meaningful soothing and hydrating benefits without diluting the efficacy of the formula's key actives. This concentration is sufficient to deliver the anti-inflammatory and hydration benefits documented in clinical literature.

How to Use

Aloe vera is present in every application of the Daily Glow Serum. Its soothing properties make the serum particularly well-suited for use after exfoliation or when the skin feels reactive. Apply 3–4 drops to clean skin morning and evening. If you have very sensitive skin, start with once-daily application and build up as tolerated.
